Eyal Shani is as eccentric as they come, so don’t expect anything less from your experience at HaSalon. The amazing thing about this place is that it’s only open on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which pretty much guarantees that Eyal Shani himself will be there cooking your food! Although once when I went he wasn’t there and I was told it was because he was tending to his pet turtle… so… you never know.

The menu changes day-to-day so everything is fresh, however of course there are the usual dishes: we always opt for a selection of vegetables, pasta (don’t miss this!), meat, and fish, and we definitely recommend you order the carpaccio- you’ll see why. The waiters are extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful (which is useful, seeing as you will have questions about half the dishes).

At around 10 the lights begin to dim and the music starts to get louder; by about 11 you will feel as if you’re at a party. Napkins flying, wine flowing, and table dancing! If this sparks your interest, be sure to book the later of the two available seatings.

Having said all of this, it is extremely expensive and portions are small- our final word is save it for a special occasion when you won’t be worrying about the bill.
